💭 Story Note
In Japan,
autumn is often associated
with many different colors.
Red leaves are a familiar sign of autumn,
and yellow ginkgo leaves
are also common in streets and parks.
As the season goes on,
fallen leaves add shades of brown too.
This is why autumn
does not always feel like
just one color.
The colors of the landscape
change little by little,
and noticing those changes
is part of enjoying the season.

| English | Japanese | Romaji |
|---|---|---|
| what color | 何色 | nani iro |

“The colors of the town will keep changing.”
「少しずつ季節が変わっていく。」
Sukoshi zutsu kisetsu ga kawatte iku.
“The season gradually keeps changing.”
In this story,
「変わっていく」 matches the feeling
of autumn colors slowly appearing
as October goes on.
🔰 Mix Words and Feel Their Meaning|ことばを混ぜて、感覚をつかもう
Today’s expression is 「変わっていく」.
Try mixing it into English:
“The colors of the town are 変わっていく.”
“The season is slowly 変わっていく.”
“October will keep 変わっていく.”
The goal is not to make perfect Japanese.
Think about the feeling of 「変わっていく」.
It describes something
that changes
and continues changing over time.
In this story,
Sakura and Sumire notice
that the colors of the town
will slowly 変わっていく through October.
