💭 Story Note

“Cat punch” is a playful Japanese expression for a light paw-like tap.
In this story, it is part of Sumire and Sakura’s familiar comedy,
not a serious fight.

The scene also uses two useful expressions with 見る:
見回す means “to look around,” while 見てみて means “take a look”
or literally, “try looking.”

📚 Vocabulary

Here are five words from today’s story.

English Japanese Romaji
yogurt ヨーグルト yōguruto
refrigerator 冷蔵庫 reizōko
to look / to see 見る miru
back / inside rear oku
together 一緒に issho ni
🌱 Language Tip
**見る(みる/miru)** means “to look,” “to see,” or “to watch,”
depending on the context.

見てみて
mite mite
take a look / try looking

The first 見て is the te-form of 見る.
The second みて comes from 〜てみる, which means “to try doing.”

So 見てみて has the friendly feeling of
“Try looking” or “Take a look.”

見回す(みまわす/mimawasu) means “to look around.”

🔰 Mix Words and Feel Their Meaning|ことばを混ぜて、感覚をつかもう

Today’s word is **見る(miru)**, meaning “to look” or “to see.”

Try mixing it into an English sentence while keeping its Japanese feeling.

Let’s 見る the back of the refrigerator one more time.

When something is missing, 見る carefully before giving up.

I want to 見る what Sakura found.
