📕 はじめに｜A small beginning

一日目は、ほとんど移動だけの旅だった。でも、車の中では

明日のこと、見たい景色のこと、
そして――

まだ食べていないマグロ丼の話で、
自然と会話が弾んでいた。

The first day of the trip was mostly spent traveling.
But inside the car,

we talked about tomorrow,

the places we wanted to see,
and—

the tuna bowl we hadn’t eaten yet.

パパも元気だよねー。

こんなところまで、よく車で行くよね。

Dad really has a lot of energy.

I can’t believe he drove all the way out here.

同乗してるこっちの方が、疲れちゃうよね😓

1日目は移動だけだったけどさぁ、わたし、明日の千本鳥居、みたかったんだよねー。

The first day was mostly just traveling, but…I really wanted to see the thousand torii gates tomorrow.

わたしはね、連絡船に乗って大間まで行って、あの大きいモニメントを見たいのよ

Me too—but I’m looking forward to taking the ferry to Oma and seeing that huge monument.

で……マグロ丼、食べられたらいいかなぁー♪

And…if we get to eat a tuna bowl, that would be perfect♪

そうそう。それも目的。

なんだかママも食べたいって言ってたからね。

That’s one of the goals.

Mom said she wants to eat it too.

明日は、
今日疲れた分、いっぱい楽しもうねー。

Tomorrow, let’s make up for how tired we are today and enjoy it as much as we can.

目的地に着くことだけで
終わってしまうこともあります。

けれど、
車の中で話した明日のことや、
まだ食べていないものを想像する時間も、
きっと旅の一部なのだと思います。

楽しみは、
食べる前から、
もう少しずつ始まっているのかもしれません。

can sometimes end
just by reaching the destination.
